I see all these people in the magazines; I'm thinkin' I can do that. I see 'em in the papers, on the T.V. screen; I'm thinkin' I can do that. I can do that. All my friends are gettin' married and they're moving away; I'm thinkin' I can do that. Yeah, they're going to San Fransisco, they go to L.A.; I'm thinkin' I can do that. I can do that. I can do that. I see all you people thinkin' "They're not so great"; I'm thinkin' I can do that. I can do that. I can do that. I can do that.
An hour drive, 5 hour flight, shuttle bus, train ride, and short walk later... I'm back in Cali.

Of course they would have to be working on the sidewalk between the Metro station and my apartment. And of course they wouldn't be bothered to mark the slabs of the sidewalk which had been removed pending future replacement. And of course the rain would have had to perfectly fill the cavernous holes in the ground with cloudy water, on two distinct occasions mind you, so as to look to the untrained eye like a solid piece of concrete. A piece of concrete one's foot could be pressed firmly against in a propulsive fashion on his/her way home.

I don't think I need to spell the resulting events out for you, I will simply satisfy your curiousity by saying yes, it was the other foot the second time.

The trip was fun, my gifts went over well, and I got some much appreciated clothing. A deck of Family Guy playing cards (the queen bearing stewie's likeness... snicker snicker) hot sauce, and the new Mark Sandman collection rounded out this year's haul.

I finished off my first of four semesters of grad school with a resounding ... well whatever sound a couple of As make when dropped on a desk. I realize that having taken these classes in undergrad a few years ago, my goals should have included nothing less, but I did get Bs in both of them the first time, so I guess I can celebrate my little bit of improvement over the years.

I'm going to give myself a quick haircut, run a couple loads of laundry tonight, and repack my bags for a trip out to Eloy, AZ. There is a year end/holiday boogie there and many of the freaks and gouls from dropzone.com that I've met elsewhere will be in attendence. I understand it's one helluva new years party, and I may just get some fun jumps in while I'm at it.

This is all provided the recent monsoon that seems to have engulfed the southwest doesn't terrorize me all the way out to the desert. It's already claimed my shoes, let's hope it's thirst for quenching thirst has been quenched.
