And on a note of strategy, Senators and Representatives should stop running for President. They would make good running mates, because a President should have someone at his side that knows how to work the Congress. But a Congressman or Senator running for President will always get bogged down, wasting precious time having to explain away the ga-jillion votes he's made in Congress. Your average Joe Citizen won't care that a Congressman sometimes has to compromise in the House and Senate, and trade his vote for something that feels bad in order to get votes in for something he wants. Though exception here, if you are a member of an elite and popular political family (think Kennedy), and have had only a very short Congressional career (no more than 6 years, this way you don't have a long record that would come back to haunt), you would be less handicapped in a race for the Presidency. But as a note of strategy, I would still advise against it. 11/07/2004-8:59am
The culmination of the Clinton Foreign policy: we'd have more influence in East Asia, China would be slapping North Korea around like a red-headed step child. Moderate politicians would have continued to win seats in Iran's parliament, and their nuclear weapons programs would have ground to a halt. Saddam Hussein would not have even been around had Bush Sr. had the political fortitude to continue backing the Iraqi rebellion in southern Iraq, but Clinton would have continued to make sure Saddam stayed in his box. But instead, now you have countries all over the world proclaiming that they're rushing to develop nuclear weapons. Why? Because they (especially the "Axis of Evil" countries) feel that if they have a nuclear bomb, their security is guaranteed (thinking that is the reason why we really appear so unwilling to start a war with N. Korea, even though we have a President now that acts as if he has never seen a war he hasn't liked). And two, because now compliments of Bush Jr., our military is stretched so thin, that we're practically a paper tiger. McCain '08? I feel that is very unlikely, even though he had invested a lot of political prestige this year to help Bush Jr. win re-election, I don't think the Republican Party will pay him back with a nomination. The Republican Party is currently on the war-path, they want a candidate who will destroy the Democratic Party once and for all. McCain is too moderate for the likes of many Republicans, especially those in the party (think of the very public rebuking that happened between McCain and House Speaker Dennis Hastert). Furthermore, McCain would be a candidate who would feel more inclined to work with Democrats, and not stomp them out. Maybe if the Republican Party stops shifting right, and begins moving center, McCain may have a shot (albeit a small one), but I'm not holding my breath. 11/07/2004-8:51am
If all of you honestly think that any ONE president has caused any of this shit, you are stoopid... lets be realistic... this problem came from multiple administrations as well as the very way the people of the western world lead their lives. It is highly doubtful that any president could have avoided 911. even FDR :) 11/07/2004-12:34am
So you're saying is Bush Jr. inherited it from Clinton who inherited it from Bush Sr. And so therefore Bush Jr. indirectly inherited it from Bush Sr. But I'm here to tell you that the only thing Bush Jr. inherited from Bush Sr. is a HUGE COCK 11/06/2004-9:10am
Clinton didn't inherit it from Bush senior. And yes I would have liked to have seen Clinton in a third term "so that the culmination of his foreign policy could occur while he was still in office." Then maybe everyone would shut up about wanting Clinton back. 11/05/2004-7:15am
Right... cause he didnt inherit that problem from another Bush... 11/05/2004-12:38am
In the same light, it's a shame Clinton didn't have a third term so that the culmination of his foreign policy could occur while he was still in office. 11/03/2004-12:09pm
he'll have to be more accountable huh? i wish that statement was grounded in reality. 11/03/2004-11:15am
sigh... at least now bush will have to be accountable the next four years for all the mess he's made 11/03/2004-9:56am
there's nothing really telling us how kerry will perform as president since he's never done it before, and there's no clear indicator in his past as to how he will act in office. personally i think his policies makes sense, and barring any complete idiocy or scandal he would be a good president 11/01/2004-7:08am
The point remains that whoever wins, we all still get fucked in the ass. 11/01/2004-12:01am
