Wonder what it was that made you this way. Maybe as a baby you dropped your rattle, and it still rattles you to this day. You better practice your evil looks in the mirror, they don't work on me. Slowly crawling up from the down low. The other cops still call you 'fatso'. Short fuse and a top to blow, unhappy wife, shitty life, hit the bottle. Your whole world dropped from under you, left you with sorry excuses. Left you with meaningless things to prove, like why you became a cop. Why did you become a cop? Wonder what it was that made you this way. As a boy your toys were taken away, and it still toys with you to this day. Shut the fuck up. After my court date, I'll forget about you. I'll tell my cellmate, I'll forget about you. After the jail break, I'll forget about you. After I'm through singing this song, I'll forget about you, I'll forget about you!
I slept on my left arm really funny last night and now it's killing me...

So yeah, last weekend I saw Finding Nemo which was excellent. Also got a bunch of errands done, buying stamps, sending off checks, getting an oil change. I hung out with Matt, Patrice, Carolyn, Ricardo, and a few beers. We were doing the only thing we could do having just found out that Carolyn hadn't seen Office Space, that that was watch it. It still cracks me up to this day.

I think it was Monday or Tuesday I went over to Carolyn's to do laundry (she's a couple buildings over in this complex) so we hung out and did nothing. We decided a bit too late that we wanted to see the recruit, so we just rented it the next day and watched it with Patrice. It was pretty good, I liked it. We were really worried though because the case said 155 minutes, and about an hour and 45 into it, they started wrapping things up, and there was no way they could have drawn it out another half hour and not ruin it. Luckily it was a typo (actually being 115 minutes) thus the film was saved, yay.

So yesterday was Carolyn's 21st birthday. We all went out and had dinner at a great place called Bahama Breeze. I had the jerk salmon which was excellent. We then came back, hung out a spell, had a couple beers, and it was off to A1A. We ended up at this place called Beach Bums on the strip. It was like a sidewalk beer garden with a DJ surrounded by Palms, the A1A, and the Atlantic. We chilled, went inside and danced for a bit, and just generally got really trashed. A few of us went over to the ocean, took our socks and shoes off, cuffed up the pants, and walked around on the surf. The temperature of the water and the air was excellent. This led to a few people stripping to their underwear and going swimming, but I wasn't really up for that, so Julie and I just kinda kept walking, carrying a mound of clothes and shoes.

After coming home (btw, we had a DD if you're curious) we picked up some actual swim attire and went swimming in the pool at Matt's complex. That was fun for a while but we were all exhausted and around 3:30 or so we all called it quits. And now here I am with a sore left shoulder :P

Oh, and the general plan is that on the weekend of my birthday in July a few of us are going on a 3-day cruise to the Bahamas. It works out well cause there's some conference for interns Monday and Tuesday that doesn't start til Monday Afternoon, so we should be good for time. I'm pretty excited about that, it should be a lot of fun.

Your sorry eyes cut through the bone, they make it hard to leave you alone. Leave you here wearing your wounds, waving your guns at somebody new. Baby you're lost, baby you're lost. Baby you're a lost cause. There's too many people you used to know. They see you coming, they see you go. They know your secrets, and you know theirs. This town is crazy; nobody cares. Baby you're lost, baby you're lost. Baby you're a lost cause. I'm tired of fighting. I'm tired of fighting, fighting for a lost cause. There's a place where you are going, you ain't never been before. No one left to watch your back now, no one standing at your door. That's what you thought love was for. Baby you're lost, baby you're lost. Baby you're a lost cause. I'm tired of fighting. I'm tired of fighting, fighting for a lost cause.
I think weekly entries might start to become more of a norm around here. Most of the time when I do things, there's really just not enough to be worth writing about, I feel better about summing up a few things from the week.

So my telephone has been screwed up all this week until yesterday afternoon when they finally got around to fixing it. I was unable to get online at home to grab a song here or there if I wanted which kinda sucked. Still not sure exactly what went wrong but the Oakwood housing people were really cool about helping me. They also mentioned my roommate is supposed to show up this weekned at some point. I'll let you konw how he turns out. His name is Phil, I know that, but really that's it so far.

I also discovered that I do in fact have a washer and dryer as I feared thus suggesting, you be the final judge, that I might just be an idiot. They are behind a pair of doors located outside my apartment accessible only from my patio. Only in Florida, what the hell...

I was going to use lyrics from the new Radiohead cd cause I like it so much, but none of the lyrics really make any sense.

There was a great place we all got together and ate dinner on Wednesday. They had dollar margaritas that were actually very good. I had the most excellent quesidillas and we all kinda chewed the fat. It's fun to hear how things are at different schools, and interesting to learn the differences on the kinds of things they really stress at different places. Matt and I have been doing our best to pick no more than one boring geek conversation per group gathering though. It's a little rule Carolyn is holding us to.

I also just yesterday got a BlockBuster card to rent Old School to watch with Brian, Patrice, and Carolyn. I handed in my application joking that they had finally won, and now everyone in the world had a BlockBuster card. As he went through all the motions and finally handed me my card he said, "Welcome to civilization." So I stabbed him in the side of the neck with a bic pen.

Haven't got a lot to learn, and my eyes they stray again. Looking for a satellite in the rays of heaven again. There's no other ending, Sunday sun... Yesterday is ending, Sunday sun... Jealous minds walk in a line, and their faces jade the strain. Stranded in infinity rooms, and they're safe from any harm There's no other ending, Sunday sun... Yesterdays are mending, Sunday sun...
Ah simple songs, they seem to find their way into your head the easiest. Better than having American Pie stuck in your head though, that takes a while to get through.

I finally have a roommate after some initial confusion. His sister lives somewhat near here though so he was able to crash over there for a night. The housing people forgot to put up a lockbox for him so he had no way of getting in. But all is resolved now, keys have been properly distributed, and the way things are once again in accordance with the gods of whatever this would be in regards to, I have no idea who they might be.

A tidbit from work...

So I'm setting up and learning how to use this device whose purpose will eventually be to test the hearing of those that participate in the listening tests we conduct. (someone finally scratched their heads and asked the question, "hey, I wonder if these people who say everything sounds fine actually have any way of knowing if it actually does?") And the default setting for the tests and calibration modes is 10V ptp. It may not mean much to you, but it struck me as a peculiar value to use, seeing as when the headphones you are using blow apart, they might damage the hearing of the subject you are attempting to test. But maybe that's just me, I'm no expert on the subject.

I did talk to a guy who works up in Libertyville and learned quite a bit about hearing tests and related material. It's actually all very cool. As always it seems to go, there's probably more to getting a good feel of a person's hearing quality than you might think. Both in terms of reliably generating test sounds, and in interpreting whether a person thought they heard something from when they actually did.

"Excuse me sir, please stop pressing the button I haven't started the test yet."

No dice on the Flügtag, we didn't make the cut so "Tired of Life" will not even have a chance to grow weary. It's a shame, I know Kristen was really excited about getting the chance to do that. And I'm sure anyone would take joy in throwing Hans off a pier (psst, don't tell him, but we are still going to do this.) Ah well, back to the old drawing board [coffee table] to draft [sloppily doodle] a new masterpiece [shitbox with wings]

You cannot quit me so quickly, there's no hope in you for me. No corner you could squeeze me, but I got all the time for you, love. The space between the tears we cry, is the laughter keeps us coming back for more. The space between the wicked lies we tell, and hope to keep safe from the pain. But will I hold you again? These fickle, fuddled words confuse me like, 'Will it rain today?' Waste the hours with talking, talking. These twisted games we're playing... We're strange allies with warring hearts. What wild-eyed beast you be. The space between the wicked lies we tell, and hope to keep safe from the pain. Will I hold you again? Will I hold... Look at us spinning out in the madness of a roller coaster. You know you went off like a devil in a church in the middle of a crowded room. All we can do, my love, is hope we don't take this ship down. The space between where you're smiling high is where you'll find me if I get to go. The space between the bullets in our firefight is where I'll be hiding, waiting for you. The rain that falls, splash in your heart ran like sadness down the window into... The space between our wicked lies is where we hope to keep safe from pain. Take my hand, 'cause we're walking out of here. Oh, right out of here, love is all we need here. The space between what's wrong and right is where you'll find me hiding, waiting for you. The space between your heart and mine is the space we'll fill with time.
So yeah a few changes to the site for those of you who don't read the comments. I went through and revised all the copyright, privacy, about, and welcome stuff on the page. I also finally got around to making choosing your own scheme for the site an actual feature that can be easily used. It's in the home section with the default section stuff, customize away.

This weekend was a lot of fun. We started going to a different part of town away from the A1A called Las Olas. It seems a little less touristy and more catered to the local people. As a result there's more older people there, but there's also more places with live music, and nicer outdoor sitting areas. Brian suggested at some point we all go on a gallery crawl, alternating between having drinks at bars and looking at artwork in the galleries that also line that strip of town. It sounds like fun, but I'm not sure it's such a great financial idea as "not breaking things" would certainly become more of a task.

There was an excellent band at a place called Mangos over in Las Olas who did an excellent job and even varied up their set quite a bit from Friday to Saturday. They got countless songs stuck in my head if that is any form of viable measurement. They even do a better job of making mixed drinks there as well, and understand that a white russian doesn't mean vanilla stoli's and milk (oh dear god why...)

Lately work has been pretty busy as a couple of my projects are kinda culminating at the same time here, and what I've made I'm starting to use to get data to people who get to make fun decisions with it. There's nothing quite like performing tests for a couple hours or so, mucking around with it for another hour in matlab and finally meeting with some people for an hour over a powerpoint file filled with all manners of pretty graphs and descriptions.

yup, it sure beats pulling cables as something to do for an afternoon.

I've also begun running (part of the reason I made the exercise poll) three days a week. Nothing real strenuous as I try to do it after work when I can tend to be somewhat tired. Just a couple miles at a reasonable pace. I'm hoping this will keep me from being so damn tired all the time as I was told it should. When you're getting up at 7am every morning there's really only so far coffee is going to help you. I'd like to have a backup plan :D
