I remember a summer's day. I remember walking up to you. I remember my face turned red. I remember staring at my feet. I remember before we met. I remember sitting next to you. I remember pretending I wasn't looking. So try and try, even if it lasts an hour. With all our might, we'll try and make it ours. Cause we're on our way, we're on our way to fall in love. I remember your old guitar. I remember I can't explain. I remember the way it looked around your neck. And I remember the day it broke. I remember the song you sang. I remember the way you look tonight. I remember the way you made me feel. We'll try and try, even if it lasts an hour. With all our might, we'll try and make it ours. Cause we're on our way, we're on our way to fall in love. Yeah we're on our way to fall in love.
It's been a while, but this is a pretty normal thing these days. I believe this is my 12th entry this year. Maybe I'm starting to grow out of it a bit. As I mentioned to Leandra, the more that's going on the less time you have to write about it.

At any rate, plenty to update...

Lauren and Hans both made their visits in October. I feel a bit of Deja Vu whenever someone visits cause there's a core set of stuff I generally do when people come through here. I change it up when possible though. Lauren and I went to Beverly Hills and she got to wander around Rodeo Drive. On the other hand Hans and I went out to Lake Elsinore and he made a tandem skydive. There's some pictures of the latter in the photos section.

The whole school thing this semester has moved in fits and starts. It seems to have worked for these courses, but I think in future semesters I'd like to make it a little more steady (and therefore relaxed.) Maybe put a schedule together that I can follow as far as making sure lectures are all good and assignments can get done a little at a time. Historically, I've done assignments all in one go, but that was when the lectures got attended naturally as part of my daily schedule. As it is now, watching all these lectures is an assignment in itself.

A couple of weeks ago I drove out with a few people to Mesquite Nevada (near Utah/Nevada/Arizona junction) for a boogie. They just got a new Grand Caravan and were celebrating. It was really beautiful with the reddish brown rock formations as far as you could see. And I can't forget the lush green golf course just off a cliff from the airport which looked like it had been cut into the rock and laid down like carpet. In the evening we abused the city of Mesquite, including the drunken go cart racing where my back to back victories are documented for all time amongst the tomfoolery via no fewer than 3 camera angles (with skydivers, if it's not on video, it never happened)

The weekend was great until the stretch of I-15 from Primm to Victorsville where ice had taken over the mountain passes and snow and bumper to bumper traffic went on for over 100 miles. It'll take me quite a while to work up an appetite for a drive like that again.

I was over in Tampa last week for Thanksgiving at my parent's new place. I like their new house. It's not too big, it's thoughtfully laid out, and it has a huge outdoor screened in area with a pool and a hot tub. I'd like to think vacations are supposed to be calm and relaxing, but my parents are still getting settled in with their new place, with their new computer setup, and their new entertainment center. The many small hassles tend to get them worked up, and uneasiness can be contagious. At times it was nuts, but I survived, and I'm going back for more in a month.

I got an ipod "for Christmas" while I was there, and I've gone through pretty significant lengths to get music all in order and organized to go on it. iTunes helps a lot, but any mass re-organizing takes time. I'm disappointed in my current head unit in my car. I picked up an adapter to connect RCA inputs (i.e. from an ipod) in lieu of a changer, but the HU won't select the changer input unless there is legitimately a changer connected. A temporary solution has been to connect the cd changer, select it, then swap the cable. This will work indefinitely or until someone in my car presses "source" on my cd player, whichever comes first. I dunno, maybe I'll keep an eye out for a new head unit that will work properly. Though I'd really like to avoid buying a whole new head unit that will just act as a volume knob and a clock.
